Does anyone think that i can get paid as a training consultant for people who want to run marathons?

IM asked:

I am an experienced marathoner. I’m not very very fast but above average. I also have experience in ironman triathlons and other small events like half marathons and 5-10ks. I am wondering if i can make money off of all the hard work i have done and after all the studying i have done on training methodology and coaching. All of this was on my spare time and i have no tangible credentials like a degree or certification.
I live in NYC where people will pay you $300 per week to run their dogs for 4 miles 3 days a week. Do you really think that i wouldn’t find ANYBODY AT ALL?

What is the best way to get sponsored for a triathlon?

Jim B asked:

So I’ve been training for the past 5-6 months for a triathlon - my first ever. I’m extremely confident in my abilities right now, but with money being tight, I was wondering if it was possible to get sponsored for a triathlon, and also what is the best way to go about it. It would be best if I could get sponsored by someone who would benefit my triathlon (i.e. a rec center would provide me with a pool to train in), but honestly at this point I’ll take anything.

So basically I’m wondering the best way to present to someone a request for sponsorship, and also what are the best places to ask. Thanks.

Spin Training For Triathlon ?

Tennis13 asked:

I am working towards competing in a triathlon and I need some help with my bike (SPIN) Training. Since the indoor bikes we use in spinning class so not have distance trackers I have a hard time knowing how far I am going. I was just wondering how long I should bike before I go and start my run. Also what is the best spinning techniques, should I mix in high resistance for 1 min and then go low resistance or should I do all high and then some low. Any help would be greatly apprecited. Thank you

What features are important in a heart rate monitor? I train for triathlons?

nbct99 asked:

I wonder how important the alarms are that are supposed to keep you in your zones, as well as presets for different zones. Since I’ve never used one, it’s hard to know what I will want at first. It sort of seems like I should just get a bare bones inexpensive model that just shows current heart rate. I’ve seen a Timex I like - comes with Indiglo and you can change the battery on your own. Are all the extra features worth it?

What is a respectable completion time of 40 mile bike leg of Triathlon,?

brother_grymn_va asked:

Experienced athlete, novice cyclist competing in first Triathlon. Breathing is fine as I do alot of running, cardio, etc. and I have some time to train before the event. I don’t expect to win the cycling leg, but would like to be competitive. What time should I set as a benchmark for a 40 mile cycle circuit for race day?
Terrain is compacted cinder gravel. I rode a brief portion of the trail today (10 miles) on my road-bike and it was a pretty bumpy ride at times. (The trail is open to hikers, bikers, and horseback year round resulting in hoof indentations, etc). Competitors can use mountain/road/recumbent bicycles. I’ve opted for Road for speed potential.
